ADVOCACY ALERT!!!

In late December 2018 the Office of Behavioral Health announced a moratorium on civil admissions

to the Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL). Under this plan, as patients are discharged

from treatment at Fort Logan their spaces (approximately 94 beds) are to be filled

by individuals charged with a crime who are under orders to undergo competency
restoration to stand trial. In the summer of 2018 Disability Law Center (DLC) had reopened their

lawsuit with the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) for compliance with a

Settlement Agreement reached years ago. This agreement was for CDHS to provide inpatient competency

restoration services within 28 days of a court order or face sanctions and fines.

Get Involved!

Get involved and make a difference in the lives of Americans living with mental health conditions.

In this section you can learn the many ways to support NAMI, including tax-deductible donations,

becoming a member and inspiring events such as NAMIWalks.

NAMI offers the understanding that only those with the lived experience

of mental illness can provide. Together with our grassroots volunteers,

we work every day to provide help and hope to millions of Americans.

When we take care of mental health, we can all see the benefits.

The first step is helping us stop the stigma against mental health.

With your help, we can stop stigma from being a barrier

against people seeking help and speaking out.
